President Obama To Visit Canada Today

By Ainsley Brown

President Obama is going to make his first foreign trip today. And where is he going? To his northern neighbor – CANADA.

Welcome to Canada President Obama!

The visit as short as it is, only six hours, is an official state visit – put simply he is meeting with the Governor General not just the Prime Minister – is a very important one for both counties.

The trip is best characterized as triple E plus.

That is to say it will focus on the highly independent yet interdependent topics of the Economy, Energy, and the Environment with the major plus being Afghanistan. However, highest on the agenda will be the economy.

High on the Economic agenda will be the state of the two highly integrated economies, including each country’s economic recovery plans; the Buy American clause; and coordinating the auto sector bail out on both sides of the border.

Let’s hope that the meeting between President Obama and PM Harper is a warm, cordial and productive one. It is only by working together that both countries with get out of this economic funk and prosper in to the future.
